Pantanassa Monastery is set within the picturesque landscape of Mangrove Mountain. The monks wanted to introduce to Australia Byzantine architecture with the hardiness and resilience of contemporary materials and building techniques. The fire prone region was heavily considered through the architecture with fire safeguards and under ground water storage facilities designed to resist future bush fires.
