A complicated little job with joint clients on neighbouring sites. Both clients needed a garage and one wanted a Studio. The solution was to create a stratum over the garages to accommodate the studio. Both properties achieved a garage space, while one property controls the space above the garages. The studio was designed with the intent of maintaining the privacy of the privacy of the other neighbour, while capturing valuable northern light to a property was overshadowed by all its neighbours. Part of the original brief was to retain the original brick store-building at the rear of the site and accommodate the garaging within in while adding a contemporary studio addition above.
