Cafe Giulia

Cafe Giulia - the conversion of a butchershop that has been abandoned for 30 years. The narrow site provided spacial challenges. The site is sloping na dth eold butcher had teh shopfront was at street level and teh coolrooms towards the rear where half a metre higher.  With the client's involvement the decision was made to maintain the step in the shop floor and separate the drink preparation area from the cooking area. Equitable access is achieved from the front door of the cafe and the rear door from the side street, into the courtyard seating.

A simple palette of materials was used to achieve a durable and easily maintained interior, to be complimented with artwork.
